Flustered In Memphis

Yesterday afternoon we took a little road trip to Memphis to drop our son off with some of his friends before his return trip to Chicago. Before turning right around for the three plus hour trip back to Nashville we decided we needed some food and caffeine before getting back on the road.
The plan was to check out a cool little coffee house about ten minutes from Beale Street called Little Eclectic Cafe'. We had high hopes for this funky little cafe' with the quirky menu but we soon realized something was askew. It became apparent that the cafe' was shorthanded with just one person doing everything and he was obviously flustered. I ordered the eclectic dog and it came naked, minus the caramelized onions that convinced me to order it. At least it came with a bun. When I brought it back to the counter and told him it was supposed to have caramelized onions on it he said "it is?"
When my son's friends arrived they had to give the barista some tips on how to fill their order correctly too.
I really don't want to be too hard on Little Eclectic Cafe' or our flustered barista but it certainly wasn't his night. When he finally got the orders right everyone was happy with their food and the atmosphere was nice, but we didn't feel like ordering espresso drinks afterward and gambling on whether they would come out right or not.
My wife and I were thankful for that Starbucks app on the iPhone that found us the nearest Starbucks (only 8 minutes away) so we could confidently order those delicious Venti lattes for the road trip home. Mmm.
