Where Am I Today?

Where am I today
as a mid century man?
So smart as I watch CNN,
Naive as I turn up
The headphones
and upload another app

But just as they thought
I was figuring it all out,
Getting comfortable in this skin
is when I realized
What I'm looking for
doesn't exist.
So now the search is
fresh
Like it was 30 years ago
new
Ancient as the days
real as the air I breath,
The dance of the blood and bones
and the purpose... itself

A new world lies ahead
Time of the pilgrim
Didn't know if we'd survive
the journey
Today we walk the settlement

I really don't give a shit
who the candidates are
or what they have to say.
But I do care where the
Bluebird sings and when
he decides to stay

Yes, a rhyme and some time
On the couch
In a room with a view
a place to lay your table
Spread your feast
and say your prayers
do an Indian dance
and prepare war paint.
When it becomes necessary
to occupy

Where Am I Today?
